A Town Planner - Wayne Siu
Wayne began designing and drawing cities and legacy genealogy studies when 8 years old as a North Shore Childrens Art Club member. Wayne listened to music while working and wore big ear phones. He had a great smile and a good sense of humour. His work was quirky but fine detailed and full of interest. He learnt English quickly and his penmanship and accurate drawing ability made a great impression on everyone including his teachers. He began studying Chinese, Asian Art and languages with Prof Bill Chan Wang Yu and kept that study up during his time at Auckland University where he studied environmental town planning and excelled. Today Wayne is an environmental town planner for the Auckland City Council and sings in a group which has just performed in New York. His Family Tree for the Hon. RT H.M.H.V. ( hands made and highly valued) the mascot for the New Zealand Childrens Art House Foundation was designed when he was 10 years old and is greatly admired piece in the New Zealand Childrens Art Collection. Also in the collection are his Children`s Art Castle Town Plans and The Village of Art which he planned for children. Wayne Siu was the first recipient awarded The NZCAHF Emerging Artist of the year 1997.
